Principal’s Message

This week, the sophomores put their final touches on the Environmental Challenge Project.  They A presentation to members from the aviation community means you have another opportunity to interact with industry professionals— one of the many great things about RAHS!  By proposing a solution to an authentic problem faced within the aviation/aerospace industry, your confidence grows, and you develop valuable career readiness skills. The Environmental Challenge Project is one of RAHS’s signature projects, and the experience will be remembered long after the winning team is announced.  A special thank you is in order for our 10th grade teachers.  I appreciate their collaborative effort to offer students an engaging learning opportunity. Good luck to all sophomores!

Though it is not up to luck, it is the final week for AP testing. Scholars, your dedication to get to this point is inspiring, and thank you for showing your Phoenix Pride!  Please accept my best wishes to all who are taking AP exams.

On a final note, I am pleased to announce the Council of Educational Facility Planners International, presented Bassetti Architects with the Washington chapter Award for Design—Raisbeck Aviation High School.  RAHS’s leading edge profile caught the attention of educational facility planners.  We have another reason to be proud of our school’s airfoil shape—hooray for us!

Emma Waddill, Andie Merlino, Dana Husby, and Kirstin Potter-Korin-for providing a tasty, baked potato bar for the staff lunch. Thank you for your thoughtful planning and wonderful meal.

Paine Field Aviation Day 2015 – Call for Volunteers

Link to Poster

Greetings,

Paine Field Aviation Day will be held this year Saturday, May 16th, between the hours of 10am and 5pm.  As in past years, volunteers make this community event happen.  Last year nearly 400 of you volunteered your precious time! This year’s event promises to be every bit as big as 2014’s Paine Field Aviation Day.  Volunteers are needed to help with setup the day before (Friday May 15th), before, during, and after the event Saturday, May 16th.
As always, we do our best to recognize the incredible efforts of all of you.  Thursday, May 14th, we will host a volunteer pizza feed and orientation meeting at the Paine Field Fire Station.  For the day of the event volunteers will receive free admission, t-shirt, food voucher, and an invitation to the volunteer appreciation “after” event.  And of course, we will do our best to care for you and your schedule during the day of the event.

Interested?  Even if not sure, let me know.  Questions?  Again, let me know.

If you know you want to volunteer, thank you!  We will work hard to accommodate your availability.  Also, your t-shirt size, if you may attend the volunteer orientation meeting Thursday, May 14th, your availability the day of the event, Saturday, May 16th, and if you may be attending the volunteer appreciation event afterwards, all would be helpful.  No worries if you do not yet know.

Thank you for your consideration and best regards,

Frank
