The Principal’s
Message
Almost everyone enjoys a fresh start—especially me. A new school year offers the perfect way to kick
start into action any changes we have contemplated making. The timing factor and
high energy level can assist us with realizing new possibilities. Like a NASCAR official waving the green flag,
the new school year gives us permission to zoom ahead and do things
differently—better than before. Starting
fresh is a wonderful opportunity, and I look forward to beginning the new school
year with you!
RAHS is an extraordinary place because of our stellar partnerships
and remarkable people. I am excited to
reconnect with our returning students and staff, and want to extend an
enthusiastic welcome to our new students and faculty. Please join me in welcoming four new staff
members to the RAHS community. I am
thrilled to introduce Mr. Wayne Storer,
9th grade English/Aviation & American Character instructor, Ms. Renee Olsen, Aviation
Careers/Economics teacher, Mr. Andy
Bowlin, Vex Robotics coach—formerly known as FTC robotics, and Ms. Peggy Yaplee, Special Education
teacher. Welcome aboard!
Getting on board with all of the school activities and
opportunities is a daunting task to maintain and manage. The best resource to connect you to all of
the information is our NOTAM—it is
our primary communication vehicle. As
the school year moves into high orbit, the information fills all seven sections of the NOTAM: Weekly
Calendar, Principal’s Message, New Announcements, Career Center, Counselor
Corner, ASB, and PTSA. Please read the
NOTAM each week to ensure that you are well informed and ready to take
advantage of all that will be offered.
The efforts of our platinum-level PTSA are very important
to the RAHS culture. Their largest event
of the year should be your calendar.
Make a note for Saturday, November 7th at 6:00PM—to
attend our annual auction at the Museum
of Flight. Bring your spouse or
special guest to make this magical event a date night. I promise you will enjoy
the evening, and directly support our student and school community. There are many ways to become involved with
the auction, and the additional information is found below in the PTSA section.
With your calendar handy, please
also add our Evening of Learning,
for Thursday, September 17th from 6:00-8:30PM. What other
schools might refer to as “open house” or “curriculum night,” our Evening of
Learning is designed to provide you with a tour through all of your student’s
classes and meet their teachers. In
addition to attending classes, we are offering an information session, Helping Your Student Succeed at RAHS,
from 5:00-5:45 p.m. which will be
facilitated by Counselor Katie Carper
and staff.
The Principal’s Round of Applause—acknowledging those who make RAHS a
better place!
