Principal’s Message
Thank you to
everyone for making our end of the year celebrations and traditions a huge
success! Last Friday marked a perfect way to cap off a week structured to
defend your learning to industry experts, and to present your creative spark
with the general public at Museum of Flight. The one Friday devoted to our
all-school awards ceremony, ice-cream social, yearbook distribution, and
princess v. staff competitions is my favorite Friday of the
year. As a group of amazing scholars, you have prepared yourselves
for college, career, and citizenship, and I trust you to hold a deep sense of
pride and accomplishment—well done! The following students received special

Two RAHS standout scholars were recognized at the Puget Sound Skills Center awards presentation
as Students of the Year! Congratulations are in order to Kristen Lemley—Student of the Year in Nursing, and Allison Hauke—Student of the Year in

your blue-ribbon distinction and superb accomplishment!
We are well into
our final descent for 2014-2015, and our amazing year will finish
with seven events scheduled over the next seven days:

- What is this? Seniors who are
receiving awards will be invited to receive their awards at this event. All
seniors, parents, scholarship sponsors, RAHS faculty and mentors are encouraged
to attend!

Before returning your laptops, please change your Illuminate password. You want
to remember your password for Registration Day on August 25. By changing your password now, you can access
your class schedule for 2015-2016. A few
minutes of time invested now, makes life much easier in August.
Please review the instructions and understand your
responsibilities to return the district-issued laptops.

What to bring? Laptop with assigned Battery, Charging
Brick, and Case and Strap.
Laptops and accessories will be returned to the lunch counter at
the northwest end the Boeing Commons. The
laptop case should be emptied of all paper and personal items. Please remove
Identification Card or another items from the outside sleeve. Make sure the strap is attached or with the
laptop case.
Files that you want to keep should be transferred to USB drive,
Google drive, Drop Box etc…prior to returning the laptop. If assistance is
needed please let Mr. McLaughlin
know—he is happy to help.
Missing or damaged items are subject to replacement costs as
outlined in the Student’s Rights and Responsibilities policy 2026
Society of Flight Test Engineers - RAHS is proud to host the
Society of Flight Test Engineers for their dinner meeting on Thursday, 11 June.
Ninth grade students will share the results of their virtual flight tests with
flight test engineers and pilots in a poster session prior to dinner, and will
hear from Jennifer Henderson and the unconventional path she has taken to
become a flight test pilot. The meeting will be in the PLC, 4:45 PM to
8:00 PM.
Are you taking APUSH next year?? If so, you must come to Juarez’s
classroom (2320) before school, during lunch, or during advisory to pick up a
course textbook and the summer assignment. Do not delay – the summer assignment
is mandatory.
National Honor Society -- Our next meeting is Monday,
June 8th from 3:30-4 in Sr. Peterson's room. We hope to see everyone
there!

Grad Party Event
June 13th, 9 p.m. - 5 a.m.
Pro Sports Club in Bellevue
Parents/Seniors here are the details for
Grad Party 2015. Pro Sports waivers are needed if you
plan to attend. These are due by June 8th. You can
obtain them from Mrs. Hiranaka or find them on the Grad Party 2015 page on the PTSA Website.
Seniors – dress code for this event is very casual
(sports shoes and attire for activities) you will need someone to drop you off
and plan on them picking you up. We do not want Graduates driving home in
the morning after staying up all night.
Volunteers are still needed to
chaperone the evening. Junior Parents are you available? We still need a
few individuals for the 12:30 - 5:30 a.m. shift. Please contact the Grad Party

INTERNSHIPS
CHELAN SEAPLANES INTERNSHIP -- Spend your summer on the shores
of Lake Chelan assisting with operations of Chelan Seaplanes at the Chelan
office during the height of the summer tourist season. This paid position will
aid in the operation of aircraft pre-departure and after-arrival operations and
assist passengers in their preparation for flight travel. Must be 18
years of age and able to work a flexible schedule on-site at the Chelan site
office. Submit your cover letter of interest, resume and transcript to
Steve Davolt in the CAREER CENTER or directly via email: steven.davolt@highlineschools.org by Tuesday June 9.
THE MUSEUM OF FLIGHT – MUSEUM INTERPRETER – Interact with visitors and
guests providing customer service and knowledge about museum educational
programs. Paid position, understanding of basic audio-visual equipment, and
knowledge of aviation, astronomy, robotics and/or aerospace science or history.

THE MUSEUM OF FLIGHT – AIRPARK HOST -- Interns will rotate among Air
Force One, Concorde and the Boeing 787. Intern hosts provide customer
service such as answering questions about these exhibits, taking count of
visitors going inside aircraft and monitoring traffic flow. Shifts are
from 10AM-1:30PM and 1:30PM to 5PM. Apply on-line @ volunteers@museumofflight.org or call 206-768-7179 and ask for

THE MUSEUM OF FLIGHT – GALLERY AMBASSADORS – The museum will place student
interns in the lobby area and in the Charles Simonyi Space Gallery encouraging
guests to learn more about the museum. Interns will work one shift per

Henry C. Meyerson have been selected as interns for the Royal Aeronautical
Society and will serve for the 2015-16 academic year. Congratulations!
CONGRATULATIONS GIRLS ROCK MATH INTERNS – Natalie Lile, Amelia McCahill,
Lynnea Colledge, Grace Derrer, Adeline Bader, Alma Limon, Abigail Quinsay,
Alyssa Ryser, Ashlee Stanghelle, Katie Stukel, and Fatima Firoz have been named
interns for summer 2015.
PE CREDIT – The Outdoor Learning Center is
offering a summer session of their Outdoor
Recreation, Health and Fitness Camp this summer. June 22-26, 2015. The camp runs from June
22 – 26, 2015. The intensive curriculum of the Outdoor Recreation, Health
and Fitness Camp is designed for students interested in exploring the vast
opportunities the outdoors has to offer.
Participants will gain confidence and skills in pursuit of outdoor
adventure. They will respectfully and
safely learn how to experience the outdoors with minimal impact on the
environment through experiential learning. The cost is $300 and there needs to
be a minimum of 12 students. You will be awarded 0.5 credits for PE and
will receive a letter grade when you successfully complete this class.
The credit is sent directly to RAHS via a transcript and you do not have to
fill out the “purple” PE form for this. For more information and the

2015 Theme:
Let Your Imagination Fly. Any student is invited to create an original work of art that reflects
this theme for the annual art festival that starts at RAHS and ends in a select
show at the US Department of Education. Recognition and cash prizes for
entries in any of 6 different categories: Photography, Visual Arts,
Literature, Music composition, Choreography, and Film short. Art accepted
now until about Dec.
